I got the video working. At least I think so. View at your own risk. It outlines the chart look that I am now using and will probably stay with.

Thank you for your time.

The video does not want to display so here is a link.

The transfer to the new computer is finished. Yippee.

I have been looking at the Turtle System recently and incorporated a couple of their ideas into what I do. It is essentially a break out system with emphasis on money management. I went back to the Gummy stuff to see what he had to say and scratched my head in trying to bring some money management rules into what I am doing. The Turtle system is based on commodities so there are a couple of tricks when trying to use it for stock trading. With the help of the hard work from Gummy I cobbled together something that seems adequate. Since I am dealing with a very small amount of money I think the result was something that I probably could have done intuitively. Anyways, here are a couple of links to the Turtle system if you are interested in doing some exploring.

One thing that keeps ringing in my head from the Turtle way is that "it is all about the number." I translate that to risk control. I also saw an interview with the banker that died from cancer, Gordon Murray. His book is The Investment Answer. One comment of his that stuck in my head is that you have to focus on what you can control. In the market that is the price you decide to enter at and the price you decide to exit at. Focus on the entry and the exit. Those are the two elements that can be controlled. It may not sound right but a controlled loss seems to be the answer. Sounds a lot better than an uncontrolled loss. My approach to risk control is not complicated and I will outline it in a later post.

The following video is simply an update of my chart look and the indicators I am using. I also want to see what it is like to create them on a faster computer.

Will have to create the video later since the microphone is not doing what it should.

Thank you for your time.

GUMMY STUFF

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I have almost finished setting up my new computer. Yippy. I am looking forward to just being able to sitting down and running scans and looking at charts. Soon enough.

This post though is to say thank you to Gummy-Stuff and its creator Peter Ponzo. You can search those names and find lots of net references to check out. I will also add a link on the side bar. There are a lot of Excel spreadsheets worth looking at for fun and perhaps for profit. I use his expense tracker all the time for my personal life. For the market I use a modified version of the Yahoo down loader to keep track of stocks. There is a wealth of material at his site and well worth exploring. Once I get other things settled in I plan to take another look at what I can use.

Here is a link to one of his sites with the spreadsheets shown visually: http://www.financialwebring.org/gummy-stuff/stock-charts.htm

Thank you very much Peter Ponzo.

Thank you for your time.

A video of MYA.V to quickly show the new indicators I have added based on the Turtle way. Very stripped down Turtle. In the previous post I looked at using a short term Turtle breakdown as a risk management tool. When I got it on the charts there were far too many signals so I extended the time frame to 18 days which is the same time frame for the long Turtle breakout signal. There are other measures that can be used for risk management.
